Holiday Trivia: Teacher Edition!
Daisy C, Staff Reporter
To get you ready for the holiday season, we asked some of our very own teachers about their special Christmas. So get ready, snuggle up with a cup of hot cocoa and cookies and let the Christmas spirit begin!
What is your favourite Christmas carol?
Mr. Scuglia: Let It Snow- is that a carol?
Ms. Buckley: O Holy Night
Mr. Lam: It’s a Marshmallow World by Dean Martin because it describes our generation- soft...just like marshmallows.
Mr. Hasiuk: Frosty the Snowman, but I do love Silent Night.
Chocolate Chip or Oatmeal Raisin?
Mr. Scuglia: Both.
Ms. Buckley: Oatmeal raisin
Mr. Lam: Oatmeal raisin, it is healthier and more fun- fun because it is contrary to belief and is a flavour explosion in your mouth.
Mr. Hasiuk: Oatmeal raisin of course!
What is your most memorable Christmas?
Mr. Scuglia: Too many- it is too difficult to remember!
Ms. Buckley: The year I lived in Mexico, I came home and my mother gave me a fluffy yellow towel.
Mr. Lam: Every Christmas is memorable because it is all about love.
Mr. Hasiuk: Last year, my family and my sister-in-law were decorating the tree together. It was a very memorable Christmas!
What is the present you want to receive the most this year? (Sorry, newspaper cannot give it to you!)
Mr. Scuglia: Peace.
Ms. Buckley: An IPad mini!
Mr. Lam: I want love, from everyone.
Mr. Hasiuk: Patience.
Where do you want to be in your dream Christmas?
Mr. Scuglia: Next year I am going to Paris for Christmas- does that count? It is a dream…
Ms. Buckley: I would like to be with my whole family at my parent’s house.
Mr. Lam: I would like to be at home with family.
Mr. Hasiuk: Ask Plato.
If you could invite any celebrity to come to perform in the school’s Christmas concert, who would it be and why?
Mr. Scuglia: Bruce Springsteen, so he could perform Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
Ms. Buckley: Andrea Bocelli, so he could perform O Holy Night
Mr. Lam: Michael Bublé because his voice can melt butter.
Mr. Hasiuk: Archbishop Thomas Collins, so he could have a mass before we begin the concert! “Laughs”
Do you believe in Santa? Have you written letters to him?
Mr. Scuglia: Of course, I help my kids write them all the time!
Ms. Buckley: Yes, and yes.
Mr. Lam: Yes I believe in Santa- and every year I ask him for a BMW but I get a pair of bamboo socks. I have 74 pairs and counting, and he always leaves me a note reminding me how renewable a resource bamboo is.
Mr. Hasiuk: I believe in a historical character named St. Nick, but Santa, I do not know!
In many houses today, chimneys are no longer possible to come in- do you have a good suggestion for Santa?
Mr. Scuglia: Leave the door open.
Ms. Buckley: Air conditioner- a bit small maybe?
Mr. Lam: None, he will bring his own Christmas magic and he will find a way.
Mr. Hasiuk: My children do not think it is a problem, so neither do I.
Name as many reindeers as you can
Mr. Scuglia: Comet, Donner, Rudolph, Dancer, Blixen- is that five? That seems pretty good, don’t you think?
Ms. Buckley: “Sings” Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen- I can sing the whole ‘Twas the Night before Christmas as well!
Mr. Lam: “Sings” Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen
Mr. Hasiuk: “Sings” Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen- my children will be proud!
Have the reindeer song become like the alphabet song that one cannot simply say them?
Happy Holidays!
