Junior and Senior Boys Basketball
Chloe Ilagan, Staff Reporter
November 25 marked the start of the season for both the Junior and Senior Boys’ Basketball Teams. The boys are progressing well and are showing immense potential in all their games.
The Junior Boys have played two of their regular season games and now sit fourth in their division. The boys played their first game of the season against Thornlea. It was a close game for the Rams, but they eventually lost 48 – 39. Two days later, the Rams played their next game against Jean Vanier. The boys played the game with tight defense and sharp passes, but could not keep up with the Jaguars. Mr Tucci, the coach of the Junior Boys says that “it’s a work in progress, but they boys are proving they have potential”.
The Senior Boys have played three regular season games. The team played their first game against Thornlea. The game resulted in a loss, but the boys were not to be discouraged. The boys played their next game against Jean Vanier. The boys’ team work and overall great effort were unparalleled, but the Rams eventually fell to the Jaguars. The boys’ most recent game on December 4 was much more successful. This time, their quick feet, impressive shots and strong drives helped the boys against Langstaff. The Rams held a tight score, only to lose a close 43 – 36. The boys now sit sixth in their division, but they are both improving their efforts and skills with each practice and game.
Both the Junior and Senior Boys’ Basketball Teams are proud of their efforts so far in their seasons. The boys are focusing on building teamwork in order to work well as a cohesive team of outstanding basketball players. Mr Tucci says that “the coaching staff wants the basketball teams to be basketball players, not just play basketball.”
