Do you have a passion for math? Are you looking for people who share the same mind set as you? Or are you just looking for a nice place to exponentially raise that math mark? Are you looking for the shining point of all this? Don’t hesitate to join the one and only Math Club led by Alexander Pozdnjakov and Jiaming Duan. It is home to math geniuses and Einsteins and Einsteinettes in the making.
“Basically, Math Club is an academically orientated club that strives towards helping 1) students with school curriculum work 2) those who love math and wish to enhance their skills/logic by practicing math contest problems” explains Jiaming.
The St. Robert Math Club is full of bright students and young mathematicians ready to “meet the neighbours” (distributive property) and eliminate all outstanding problems. The club meets every Tuesday in room 208, opening their doors to help students struggling or interested in the world of mathematics, calculus, vectors, and more. Students are encouraged to challenge their logical prowess by sine-ing up for various math contests such as the Pascal (Grade 9), Kaley (Grade 10), Fermat (Grade 11), and the Euclid (Grade 12) math contests hosted by the University of Waterloo. Practice, and group studying sessions are held alternately every other week during the school year, allowing the eager participants with the opportunity to learn from the best and become the #Ine (number one) competitors in the school! “We're also a very supportive group and place where happy peeps with love for math meet” continues Jiaming.
With the endless support of Mr. McNamara, the teacher advisor, the club has accomplished so much. “Thank you, Mr. McNamara, for the use of your room, your help, and limitless support of materials and resources,” says the Math Club.
So remember to meet the neighbours and expand your knowledge by seeing life in the right angles in math club.
