Christmas Night
---- To the tune of “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus
By Loreta Sinn
You were on that bench there,
Watching the snow fall
Your eyes, they glistened so bright
I wanted to hold you so tight.
The darkness surrounded you,
The red lights gave a dark glow,
And the lampposts cast dark shadows,
On your face, that was hung so low
But I wanted to be with you,
In that empty seat covered with snow…
On that dark winter night, I saw you.
You didn't look like you we’re going to move.
The snow was falling on the ground so softly,
I didn't know why you didn't see me though.
Winter nights are so cold, restless,
Why were you there on Christmas night?
Christmas night...
I bought some coffee,
Two for you and me.
With the spare dimes that I had,
For the bus back home but I thought
That with that small breath
And shiver and thin scarf
The warmth was all you needed,
I knew you were worth it.
So I stayed and sat down
And you smiled back at me.
On that dark winter night, I saw you.
You didn't look like you we’re going to move.
The snow was falling on the ground so softly,
I didn't know why you didn't see me though.
Winter nights are so cold, restless,
Why were you there on Christmas night?
Christmas night…
So together, we watched the night fall
The stars shimmering in the sky
The snow piled up to my feet,
The glowing lights were hung so high.
Sipping our coffee warmed our hearts,
We laughed and smiled at the sky,
It’s Christmas night…
