Student Outreach is an inclusive club that dedicates its time to breaking this social barrier in the St. Robert environment. The club unites students from mainstream education with students in special needs education. The executive team organizes events monthly, allowing FLS students and peer buddies to form friendships and bond. After already hosting a movie night, games night, Halloween party and Thanksgiving party, it is clear that this year is sure to be an eventful one for Student Outreach. This year, however, the club has also extended its hand by collaborating with the international charitable organization, “Best Buddies,” allowing for possibilities the opportunities of larger events to arise. ves Outreach members and FLS students the opportunity to go to larger events held by the organization. As well, it gives use the opportunity to organize and host an event with other YCDSB schools that run the Best Buddies Program, which Outreach hopes to do in the coming new year. Sogand T., the club’s president, shows eagerness in the hopes of the New Year, saying, “Outreach is very blessed to be working with a wonderful group of staff and students, willing and dedicated to being a part of every step of the planning process and in the events themselves. All students are gaining a better understanding of each other and learning to work and have fun together.”
