Trick or Treat!

Halloween celebrations at St. Robert have always been memorable and unique, from seeing dancing bananas and zombie nerds in the hallways to the week-long events that take place prior to Halloween day. It is an opportunity to be whisked away to a world of imagination where you can be the character you most wanted to be by day, and take home treats by night. “What is better than seeing your friends and teachers in costumes?” was a common question the week before Halloween, and frankly, there is no answer. Walking into school in the morning gave students the chills as a selection of Halloween themed tunes drifted
to their ears from the Senior “Dead” Band. A visit to the guidance department the week before Halloween gave students a tasty candy treat. This was followed by the judging of the pumpkin-decorating contests between homeroom classes that left jaws dropping. |
Halloween spirit week consisted of four days of exciting events hosted by Student Council that certainly helped to boost the school spirit as an energizing countdown to Halloween. Whether it was the toilet paper frenzy during the Mummy Wrap game, the scary movie trailer by White Pine Reading Club, the mystery jar guesses, or the Eye for an Eye candy eye relay race, students had the opportunity to put their skills to the test while doing something extraordinary. catwalk and the zombie photo booth, hosted by Student Council and Arts Council gave students the chance to showcase their favourite costumes and take interesting photos that brought laughter, and will be sure to bring more in the future. Creative Writing Club invited all students to the Haunted Hotel game where students chose their fate in spooky tales and Pride Club hosted the Ties and Heels relay race which promoted the breaking down of gender boundaries. Furthermore, to increase the anticipation, Rams Media Corporation aired their horror film trailer on Halloween day, and the full movie will be premiered in November. Ultimately, this celebration was not only about the costumes, the tasty Halloween grams, or the astounding number of games but it was the motivation of the students which brought the spirit to St. Robert that made it fang-tastic.
